PROCESS
CUSTOM HOME PROCESS
Every home we design is unique to the client and a collaboration of their vision and our creativity and experience.
Site Evaluation
We assess the project's specific requirements and challenges, beginning with a thorough examination of the zoning by-law and site topography, considering neighborhood context and privacy concerns. Subsequently, we form a specialized team, including a planner, civil engineer, landscape architect, and municipal representatives, to collaboratively create a clear roadmap for the project based on comprehensive consultations.

INITIAL DESIGN MEETING
During the initial meeting, we extensively discuss your preferences for a new home, your current lifestyle, and your envisioned future living arrangements. Taking the time to understand you thoroughly, we explore the practical aspects of structure and technology, ensuring their seamless integration into our design. Budget considerations, along with your list of essential and desired features, are also addressed in determining the style for your home. The outcome is a unique home design that reflects a collaboration between your vision and our creativity and experience.
DESIGN PACKAGE
First, we start with black lines (floor plans). When you are satisfied with these, we move on to the exterior elevations, where we incorporate the roof design, window sizes, and all the exterior details that are finalized and perfected. We work in 3D, which gives us the capability to view your home from all angles, providing you with 3D images of all elevations and any unique items that give your home its character.
We will also show you interior 3D images to help illustrate the ceiling features and how they enhance the overall design, elevating the experience you will have in your home. At this stage, we also discuss exterior material and colour selections to ensure that you understand what your home is going to look and feel like.

PHOTO REALISTIC RENDERINGS AND VIRTUAL WALKTHROUGH
We begin the design process with black lines (floor plans) and progress to exterior elevations, incorporating roof design, window sizes, and finalizing exterior details. Utilizing 3D technology, we provide comprehensive views of your home from all angles, presenting 3D images of elevations and unique features. Interior 3D images showcase ceiling features, enhancing the overall design and experience within the home. Discussions about exterior material and color selections occur to ensure a clear understanding of the home's appearance and ambiance.
ZONING, CONSERVATION, COMMITTEE OF ADJUSTMENT
The strategic creation of zoning drawings is crucial to the successful approval of the design we create by the pertinent municipality. Being able to work collaboratively with our consultants optimizes the accuracy of the information presented prior to submission which is an important part of our strategy that we implement with every project.

CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS AND BUILDING PERMIT SUBMISSION
We transform the design package into construction drawings ready for permits, leveraging our experience with developer/builders to ensure comprehensive and accurate details. Collaborating closely with project consultants, we create a cohesive construction package for submission to the town, aiming to prevent delays or costly errors on site.
DURING CONSTRUCTION
Stamp and Hammer have vast experience with large and complicated projects, and we know how difficult construction can be. We enjoy being involved throughout the process and answering any questions that the builder has along the way.

FORWARD THINKING
Sustainability
At Stamp and Hammer, our ethos is centered on crafting aesthetically pleasing structures that integrate environmentally and ethically conscious design components. We offer assistance with a range of design elements, some of which include:

SIZE
An efficient design layout allows for a smaller house design without having to compromise on comfort. Smaller houses are more efficient: it reduces material and energy use making them more efficient and less wasteful.

Orientation
Orientation is important in order to build a more sustainable home. Evaluation of the site is the first step to understand it’s unique character. When living in a colder climate taking advantage of the sun by having more window’s facing south is a cheap and efficient way of using natural resources helping to heat the home, as well as bringing in natural light.

INSULATION
Deciding on the insulation used is an extremely important choice. The most common types of insulation are fiberglass, cellulose, and foam and ICF forms. The option to add insulation above the required insulation value is something that is always an easy option to reduce heat loss.

Using local materials will reduce the need for shipping. This might be a bit of a harder choice simply because options might not always be available, however for example using stone from the local stone quarry goes a long way.

WINDOW AND DOORS SELECTION
Efficient windows and doors are a must; they should be at minimum a double or triple pane window with proper weather-stripping to keep out the elements. Choosing windows with higher glass and material insulation value balances the cost by showing savings with lower heating bills.

ENERGY STAR APPLIANCES
Using energy efficient appliances and equipment is the easiest energy efficient home ideas to achieve. As a minimum requirement, use Energy Star rated appliances, AC units, and water heaters.

To minimize energy consumption, prioritize efficient heating and air conditioning systems. Smart thermostats optimize comfort by learning usage patterns. Zoning allows independent temperature control for each room.

Solar power is a clean, renewable energy source. Despite the initially high cost, it proves to be a worthwhile long-term investment, effectively reducing future electric bills and shrinking the carbon footprint of your home.
